- About Us
The Centre for Development, Health and Rights (CEDHAR) is a community-based non-profit organisation working to empower rural women, children, and persons with disabilities through integrated programmes that promote inclusive development, accessible healthcare, and human rights advocacy. CEDHAR supports social entrepreneurship and livelihood initiatives that foster economic independence, while advancing inclusive practices that ensure full participation of people with disabilities. Through health outreach, legal awareness, and rights-based advocacy, CEDHAR is building healthier, more equitable communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive with dignity and purpose.

Ideation & Visioning
The concept of CEDHAR was initiated by a group of passionate individuals committed to social change, human rights, and community development. Early efforts focused on identifying key issues, conducting needs assessments, and forming initial stakeholder networks.
Strategic Planning & Groundwork
Development of CEDHAR’s vision, mission, and core values. Drafting of governance structures, operational frameworks, and thematic focus areas. Informal community engagement and pilot initiatives began during this period to test and refine approaches.
Legal Registration
CEDHAR was officially registered as a non-profit/NGO in Nigeria. This enabled the organization to legally operate, open official accounts, apply for grants, and build formal partnerships. A Board of Trustees or Advisory Committee was formed.
Capacity Building & Foundation Laying
Internal capacity building: staff recruitment, volunteer training, and policy development (e.g., safeguarding, financial management, M&E). Development of program designs and strategic plans. Initiation of advocacy campaigns, stakeholder meetings, and awareness activities. Partnerships with local and international organizations were established.
Full Operations Launch
CEDHAR officially launched its full-scale programs and services. Community outreach, rights-based education, policy advocacy, and development initiatives began across its target regions. Monitoring, evaluation, and impact measurement systems put in place.
Growth & Impact Scaling
Plans for geographic expansion, thematic deepening (e.g., gender equality, youth empowerment), and increased community ownership. Sustainability strategies including fundraising, social enterprise models, and stronger advocacy influence.
