Period Dignity & Menstrual Hygiene (PAD Project)
Period Dignity & Menstrual Health (PAD Project)
At CEDHAR, we believe that no girl should miss school or lose confidence because of her period. Our Period Dignity & Menstrual Health (PAD) Project works to combat period poverty and improve menstrual health by providing education, sanitary pads and supportive community engagement for adolescent girls in underserved communities.
Through interactive health education sessions, we equip girls with accurate information about menstruation, menstrual hygiene management, puberty and self-care, while addressing harmful myths and misconceptions. We also distribute sanitary pads to help girls manage their periods with dignity, remain in school and reach their full potential.
Project Locations
- Government Secondary School, Nyanya Gwandara Community, Nasarawa State
- Aso A Community, Nasarawa State
Impact to Date
- 200 adolescent girls reached through menstrual health and hygiene education.
- 200 packs of sanitary pads distributed to support girls experiencing period poverty.
- Created safe and inclusive spaces where girls could ask questions, build confidence and learn practical menstrual hygiene practices.
- Increased awareness of menstrual health and promoted dignity, wellbeing and continued school attendance among adolescent girls.
The PAD Project is part of CEDHAR’s long-term commitment to ensuring that every girl has access to the knowledge, resources and support she needs to manage her period safely and confidently. As we expand to more schools and communities across Nigeria, we continue to work towards a future where no girl’s education or wellbeing is limited by her menstrual cycle.
